About & Contact

Hi. Welcome to Interweb World.

If you’re reading this page, you’re probably curious about the reasons for Interweb World and who’s behind the blog.

Well, my name’s Gerard and I’m an IT Manager and Web Developer from Northern Ireland. I’ve been blogging in other places for a couple of years now and just wanted somewhere to share my thoughts and notes on technology (particularly around Internet technology). Interweb World is my techie stomping ground!

I’m a big fan of the Web 2.0 movement, although the name grates every time I read it. The phenomenon of Social Bookmarking and Social Websites has me hooked to the web in a way I never thought possible. Standards-based web development has me excited about web design again and the possibilities that it opens up for web accessibility and search engine friendliness. You’ll find my thoughts on all of that stuff here.
